DONE BE AFRAID TO ASK questions!
Safe recruitment DBS checks are important but they should be part of a robust process including staff inductions, supervision, safeguarding training, knowledge of the whistle blowing process, references etc. DBS checks should NEVER be the stand alone safeguard.
Childcare experience– How long has the company been in operation? What other services do they offer?
Staff experience– What experience have the team members got that might be working at your wedding? It’s great to hear that the company has 5 years experience, but what about the team that are being hand-picked for your wedding? Does their experience match your childcare needs?
Quality– Do they have any services registered with OFSTED and if so what is their grading? Have they received any awards? Are there any testimonials you can see? Have they been recommended?
Behaviour management -What is their behaviour policy? How do they get the best out of the children they work with?
Onsite safety –Do they do a pre visit risk assessment? Do they work to recommended child/adult ratios? Are children signed in/out of the crèche?
Values- What are the organisation core values? It’s always good to have like minded people around, especially on your wedding day!
Don’t ignore your gut instinct about an organisation and don’t feel pressurised into a booking, visit their website, phone them for a chat and get to know them first!
